Former Australian tennis player Paul McNamee admires Novak Djokovic . He did not like it when Louis Vuitton ignored the World No.1 in their latest ‘Core Values’ advertising campaign, with its ‘These are journeys that turn into legends‘ tagline.

The advertisement features two of tennis’ most revered personalities, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. While Federer retired in 2022, Nadal left his tennis racket behind to climb on top of Italy’s snowy Dolomites mountains.

However, many wondered how the luxurious fashion brand could forget the player who stands on top when it comes to most Grand Slam titles, and this sentiment was echoed by McNamee. He took to X to show his dismay at Louis Vuitton’s campaign for not including a member of the Big 3.

FEDAL is amazing, but it ultimately falls short of the intrinsic power of TRINITY, which links not two of the three, but the three greatest players in history. So, for me, LV missed the target, as TRINITY is a far more potent narrative. Paul McNamee wrote on X

McNamee also replied to X user’s tweets which claimed Louis Vuitton did not want to include Djokovic in the conversation. In another tweet, McNamee wrote that the Big 3 are closely linked in spite of their different backgrounds, games, and personalities.

Roger Federer enjoys the adventure with Rafael Nadal in the mountains

Roger Federer turned pro in 1998 and three years later, Rafael Nadal emerged on the scene. The tennis fraternity at that time probably had no idea how these two, in the future, would become synonymous with tennis excellence.

The fact that they played some of the most fierce matches in the history of tennis and maintained a friendly relationship off the courts amused Federer. That they embarked on a journey while experiencing diverse emotions, both as tennis players and while climbing up to the top of the mountain during the advertising campaign, was nothing short of meaningful for the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

How we could be such rivals and then, at the end of our careers, be beside each other doing this campaign has been very cool. And where we are here today, I think it also embodies everything: at the peak of the mountains. For us, it is something meaningful and special. Roger Federer told Women’s Wear Daily

Federer retired in 2022 while teaming up with Nadal at the Laver Cup. Nadal, who turns 38 on June 3rd, has hinted that he may retire after the end of this season.
